PressPerCent overview

PressPerCent started out around 20 years ago as a simple ink key pre-setting software tool - a popular subject at the time when printing press manufacturers and printers were searching for less expensive, space-saving solutions to replace hardware plate scanners. Since then PressPerCent evolved to include more features the customers required such as support for the job format of many press types and models, total ink calculations, spot color preview, automatic job processing and flexible press configurations.

A commercial printing press has "zones" or columns of ink controllability running vertically along the length of its ink fountain system. These zones must be individually told how much ink to put on the paper. Modern press control centers allow digital input from the prepress (CIP3) to pre-set these zones or "keys" based on the particular job. (picture of the control center/keys http://www.heidelberg.com/wwwbinaries/bin/images/dotcom/all/prinect/cp2000/kf_color_fast_42281_08_V02_170px.jpg ). PressPerCent generates this CIP3 data. How well? You get what you pay for.

I haven't yet sent anything to a printer with this, Last version changed the colors of my original work before tweeking... I'm checking out the features on this. This seems more important to me for apps like Create©, Cenon, MLayout etc. in preparation for meeting the Printer. Anyone else test this with Cocoa apps? Looks great, though. Hope to make better use of it with this release.
