Eliza overview

Eliza lets you enjoy a rousing conversation with your Mac. Eliza will play the part of a psychologist conducting an open-ended clinical interview. As the patient, you get opinions and advice on a wide range of subjects. Eliza has a large vocabulary and the ability to formulate a virtually unlimited number of responses.

What’s new in version 1.6

Version 1.6:
  • Added a "Response Delay" preference. When active, Eliza pauses to "think" about your input before responding. Longer responses result in longer delays. This adds a touch more realism.
  • Added an "Auto text entry" preference. When active, Eliza waits for you to stop typing before responding. This obviates the need to add Enter/Return to the end of your message. This also allows you to use speech recognition software (e.g., Dragon) to converse more "naturally" with Eliza. Specify a short (1 second), medium (2 second), or long (3 second) delay.

Actually this is meant to be funny, Eliza has been around since 1966 and I remember typing in a program on an Apple IIe in the mid 80s. History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA

OK, I know that the intention behind this was probably not humor; nevertheless, it was hysterical. I strongly recommend this if you write humor. NOT KIDDING. Especially if you're in a slump. Once I got the hang of it, I felt like I was writing half a Seinfeld episode. In case the developer should read this, I truly don't intend this to be an insult. I geninuely enjoyed this software and will definitely recommend it to other humorous writers.

This program is great for those times when you are just borde. eliza can also make you think about diffrent choices in dilemas. I have had a lot of fun with this and hope that a updated one comes v. soon jak
