StopTheMadness Pro overview
StopTheMadness Pro is a web browser extension that stops websites from making your browser harder to use, and it protects your privacy on the web. With a huge number of unique features, StopTheMadness Pro is one of a kind! Made by indie developer Jeff Johnson. The support link has documentation and my email address. StopTheMadness Pro includes extensions for Safari on macOS and iOS, as well as Chrome and Firefox on macOS.
What’s new in version 12.3
- Hide Page Element: Fixed in Chrome and Firefox. This feature was broken in version 12.2, sorry!
- Hide Page Element: Added a "Leave Space" checkbox to leave space on the page for the hidden element (in other words, to use visibility:hidden rather than display:none).
- Hide some banners: Hide "Google recommends using Chrome" in Google Drive.
- Override built-in functions: Fixed connection errors on saving and sending in RoundCube webmail.

CHECK if the Apple Mac App Store actually installed version 12.1 (or any other current update, for that matter). The "12.1" update only reinstalled 12.0 today while saying I had 12.1 installed. That sucks. So, I had to bash around in the App Store app to get it to actually "Update" to 12.1. Such is that state of Apple software these days. 😝 Blame Craig.

Unbelievebly comprehensive. So many options to fix website annoyances or customise and improve behaviour. Being able to inject custom CSS and JavaScript is very useful. I use it to hide ads that aren't blocked by Pi-Hole, plus override CSS on sites to improve legibility, hide stuff I don't want to see (not just ads), change fonts and fix a few website bugs. Incredibly useful - but also a little complex, simply down to the number of things it can do.
