aiMenu is a really impressive tool, if you want to use ChatGPT from any text related software on your Mac. With aiMenu installed you can select text in any software (text editor, word processor, email program, text input window in a browser, ...) and send it to ChatGPT with a predefined or individual prompt. This can also be done through keyboard shortcuts and be further automated in that respect of what is done with ChatGPTs answer (i.e. written back to your initial software).
This enables fully automated translations, essays, abstracts, text analysis’, wikis and whatever you might imagine asking ChatGPT. You can also ask follow-up questions with ChatGPT not losing context, but in my opinion this is more a tool for activities requiring single or just few prompts than for small talk with the AI (you can find other apps for that).
Once you have figured out how the tool works it becomes a powerful AI assistant for your daily work. And the best part is: it costs you much less than what i.e. Microsoft will bring to Office 365 with its so called “copilot” (and it is more flexible and less intrusive too).
You just need an OpenAI API key, which you can obtain here: openai(dot)com/api. If you don’t use your API key really excessively, it is just a one time payment for aiMenu plus a very small amount per month for using the API once the time for its free usage has run out (in my case far below 50 cent per month).
To me this is one of the best tools I’ve found in a long time.
