Bootchamp overview

BootChamp is an OS X menu bar app that makes it easy to boot into your Boot Camp Windows partition. Instead of using Startup Disk in System Preferences or holding down the Option key at startup, just select "Restart into Windows" and BootChamp will do the rest.

Still working fine on High Sierra ONLY if you use HFS+ not APFS (having HFS+ for mac system drive also fixes the BootCamp Control Panel boot chooser in Windows - BTW, you still need to disable the Apple HFS driver files in Windows to fix System Restore). Additionally, I have Windows installed with (hybrid GPT) MBR boot not EFI on an old 2011 mac. It may still work for newer macs if you meet these two condition, HFS+ mac and MBR Windows, possibly only the HFS+ condition. So I guess this app is still slightly useful for old-school geeks like me. As for MacUpdate posting this as "new" update, I completely agree, it's totally ridiculous.

WHY is MacUpdate posting this as a 'new' update release dated April 10, 2020?? BootChamp 1.7 is discontinued and the developer has officially declared it EndOfLive as of 2015. The last version of macOS it will work with is El Capitan 10.11. The introduction of APFS, continued lock down of the system by Apple, inability to modify the UEFI parameters to set 'next boot' option, changes in how macOS 'blessed' a volume to make it bootable, all made this app non functional. Even Apple's own Boot to OSX utility on the Windows side of BootCamp was non functional for several years because it wasn't updated to read or locate the APFS boot volume to get back to macOS. Only a recent update to BootCamp (6.1 i think?) fixed this, and ONLY for very recent Mac models.
