Dropover overview
Dropover is a utility that makes it easier to manage and move content between folders, applications, windows and workspaces using Drag and Drop. Shake your cursor and drop whatever you are dragging into the shelf. This shelf floats on top of all your other windows so you can navigate stress-free to your destination folder or program. It works with any draggable content; files, folders, text snippets and even images from a website.
Here's what you can do with Dropover:
- Activate it using a shake gesture, menubar or global shortcut
- Create multiple shelves or append files to an existing shelf. Then move all files at once to your destination
- Upload dragged files to iCloud or Dropbox and directly get a shareable link copied to your clipboard. All in one click, right from Dropover's shelf
- Reveal dragged content in Finder or directly share it using Messages, Mail or Airdrop
- Manage and list individual files along with information such as name and file size. Preview them using Quick Look, reveal them in Finder or quickly share them
- Drag individual files to destination
- Remove individual files if you've dragged them by accident

What’s new in version 4.13.0
Introducing Pinned Shelves
- Pinned Shelves act as bookmarks and are positioned directly in the status bar menu for instant access, without navigating "Recent Shelves" submenus. Unlike recent shelves, Pinned Shelves stick around until explicitly removed or cleared, offering stability and quick retrieval of your most essential content.
File metadata in files viewer
- The files viewer popover, which lists the files inside a shelf, now displays additional metadata for each file. This includes image resolution for images, video duration and more!
Under the hood improvements
- Improved file handling ensures consistent shelf order across various features, addressing file arrangement issues. Improved file tracking allows Recent Shelves to be retained, even after content has moved to a new location.
Other improvements and fixes:
- Minor readability improvements in the menu bar.
- Added the ability to give ZIP archives a custom name. This also applies to Custom Actions that use the ZIP action.
- Files that are deleted by a different process will now be automatically removed from the shelf.
- Shelf thumbnails (shown in the menu bar, widget, or when sharing content) now respect the order of the files in the shelf
- Restored shelves now respect the order of the files as in the initial shelf
- Dropover can now restore shelves of which the content has moved to a different location (previously, these shelves would no longer appear as a recent shelf)
- The order of the files inside the files viewer popover now matches the visual order of the stack in the shelf (file on top visible now appears as the first file in the list/grid)
- Improved files listing popover performance
- Fixed an issue where the share extension would open Dropover's preference window
- Added missing Chinese translations for shelf settings modal
- Fixed an issue where invoking an Instant Action with multiple files could result in the Instant Action only being performed with 1 file
- Fixed an issue where the expiration date option for Dropover Cloud uploads with a direct link was disabled
- Resolved an issue in which generating a ZIP archive for files sharing the same name would include only one file

Great Mac utility that saves a lot of time with bringing most of the used actions and the added value is the sharing to cloud storage, always updated and nice to have.

I previously used Yoink, but Dropover has one major advantage. Shaking a file with the mouse (or trackpad) brings the shelf into view just where it is needed - close to the file itself. You can then move the shelf to where you need the file to be dropped. Plus the developer is continuing to add new features.

Love this app, the mouse shake is intuitive and puts the shelf anywhere on the screen and I like the fact you can create separate shelves.

Seems like this is a similar idea to the more established Yoink. I love Yoink, and the developer is fantastic. But I'm more than happy to replace an app on my Mac if I finder a better or more affordable similar app. This app is most decidedly not Yoink.
What prevents me from even trying this software is the lack of information on the website (what's in the free version vs what I get for the $4 in-app-purchase), and the fact that the marketing of the app on the website clearly shows that 90% of what this app does can be done with the Finder, right out of the box. In other words, the app doesn't actually do much.
