Krisp overview

Krisp is a desktop application that allows you to remove any background noise in real-time calls.

Krisp is a virtual microphone/speaker driver. As such it sits between the device microphone/speaker and calling/messaging/conferencing apps such as Skype and acts as a proxy.

Powered by krispNet Deep Neural Network, Krisp is trained to recognize and reduce background noise from real time audio by leaving only human speech in it. Supports 600+ different apps such as Skype, Zoom, Discord, Webex, QuickTime, Audacity, Loom, etc. Virtually any app which allows changing microphone/speaker from its audio settings.

Likewise, Krisp can be used with any headphones, speakers and microphones of your choice, both wired and wireless.

Created for the remote professionals, digital nomads, podcasters, freelancers and any other 21st-century privacy-conscious individual, Krisp is designed with privacy in mind. All the audio processing happens on your device and never leaves the boundaries of your device.

Krisp also will help boost productivity for remote teams who communicate with customers and have remote conferences on a daily basis.

Krisp cancels noise bi-directionally, removing noise going from you to other call participants as well as noise coming from other call participants to you.

Krisp is great because it works with:
  • Any communications app
  • Any headsets or headphones
  • Any microphones and speakers

To make sure everyone benefits from Krisp, we have tailored plans both for individuals and teams.

What’s new in version 2.51.3

Improvements
  • Screen recording now in the app: With this release, you can pre-select Screen Recording using the new "Record Screen" option before the meeting. Updated controls make it simple and efficient.
  • Switch screens during Screen Recording: Seamlessly transition between screens while recording. A popover with screen details will guide you to switch screens and continue recording without interruption.
  • Bots for multi-meeting coverage: With the Video Recorder Bot, you can now cover multiple meetings simultaneously. However, note that the bot and on-device note-taker cannot be used in the same meeting to avoid conflicts.
  • Always accessible Agenda: Stay organized with the agenda button displayed for all upcoming meetings in the app. Whether you’ve already created an agenda or not, you can quickly access or add one in just a click.
Other improvements
  • Updated macOS compatibility: Krisp no longer supports installation on macOS Monterey, focusing instead on the latest three public Mac systems. This change ensures optimized performance for both Arm and Intel versions.
  • Also included various under-the-hood fixes to improve overall performance and stability, ensuring a smoother meeting experience.

Why does an app with no star ratings show 4.2 Stars? Why does an app get listed as Free when it isn't? sketchy.

I think that developers have an ethical obligation to make sure there is more transparent cost information on MacUpdate. Maybe it is because it was a public beta before the official app release in June and the cost hasn't been updated in the following 3 months. I am not posting a rating because I'm not interested in spending the type of money for my personal use. It may be great and worth the price for someone else, just not for me. At the top right of the MacUpdate page for this product, it currently says this: Free (5 stars) 5.0 Go to reviews (0) So a perfect rating, with no reviews. Free but actually $20 a month. A couple of reviews on other websites from June when this app was officially released... https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/12/krisps-smart-noise-cancelling-gets-official-release-and-pricing/ "It works — I’ve tested it, as have thousands of other users during the beta. But now comes the moment of truth: will anyone pay for it? The new, official release of the app will let you mute the noise you hear on the line — that is, the noise coming from the microphones of people you talk to — for free, forever. But clearing the noise on your own line, like the baby crying next to you, after a two-week trial period, will cost you $20 per month, or $120 per year, or as low as $5 per month for group licenses. You can collect free time by referring people to the app, but eventually you’ll probably have to shell out." https://www.zdnet.com/article/krisp-strips-out-background-noise-from-desktop-voice-and-video-chats/ "Krisp costs $20 per month for individuals and slides to $5 per month for teams. The company behind Krisp is also offering a referral promotion that can earn users up to six months of usage credit."
