Further details from the FAQ page: "While all users can use Lantern free of charge, there is a daily bandwidth limitation. When the bandwidth limit is reached, the connection is slowed and Lantern Free users are prompted to upgrade to Lantern Pro. Free users in certain heavily censored regions are exempted from this cap, and may use unlimited data. . . . (Q) How much does Lantern Pro cost? (A) You can purchase one year of Pro for $48 (USD), or two years of Pro for $87 (USD). - - I suggest visiting the FAQ page for details about what Lantern Pro offers beyond the free version. - - My personal POV: This is an interesting service with useful points. But do NOT expect it to let you do whatever you want anywhere on the Internet. My fave example: The BBC in the UK eventually wised up and don't bother playing Seek-And-Destroy with exit node IP addresses. Instead, they verify that you're a UK TV license owner before you get to use iPlayer features such as streaming BBC programming. ITV in the UK has their own 'member' restrictions. In such cases, forget about ANY service helping, including Lantern. An actual, factual high quality VPN is going to provide the most exit node IPs around the world and the best bandwidth. But Lantern is a step into a safer worldwide Internet. For those of us in the USA it's a very good first step because we can count on our government having access to data regarding everywhere we go on the Internet OUTSIDE of the USA. (They're not 'supposed to' access that data when we stay within the USA. Such data would be illegally obtained without a warrant).
