Using an Internet exit node in the UK is no longer enough to access BBC programming. These days, the BBC requires a UK television license, which they verify before you get to use iPlayer or their website programming. 😭 They also seek out and block exit nodes that allow in foreigners. 😵 What is so dire about foreigners watching BBC programming online? (A) They're not paying the UK TV licensing fee. (B) They're likely not using cable TV, which pays the BBC for access to BBC America channels. (C) The expense of having to add server components to deal with the required extra bandwidth to feed pesky foreigners. 😝
I was curious about iPlayer, I was going to try it to see what it was because I've heard quite a bit about it. Is it true though, that it only works in the UK ? because I don't live in that part of the world.
When it loads it’s brilliant, ahowcasing the whole gamut of BBC output in all its channels, but is very very sensitive and if one electron of the connection you use has left our green and pleasant land it won’t work. VPNs seem to confuse it even when they’re not in use, this random geoblocking is annoying and often prevents the app showing content at all. The on-site guidance explains why but not really how to remedy this issue.
Frustrating when my smart telly works fine on the same connection that my Mac won’t.
The App works on any Mac, matching the required hardware. I think, it´s posted here because they are fishing for people, not interested to read the fine print. Be careful, the judge can't help you after you register!!!
