Dictionaries overview
Dictionaries overcomes the Mac's support for only a few languages, installing language support and deeply integrating it into macOS. The dictionaries work exactly like Apple’s own and are available everywhere: in all your apps, in Look Up, and in Spotlight. Everywhere you type text.
That’s the best part about it: you don’t have to use a dedicated app to access the dictionary. Instead, the app extends macOS’s own Dictionary app as well the built-in Look Up functionality. The translation of an unknown English word is always just a force-click or triple-tap away.

What’s new in version 2.0
Reworked processing & updating engine:
- The dictionary engine was reworked from the ground up, with much improved understanding of inflections, word forms and meanings. The new engine allows us to further improve the dictionaries in the future and to update them frequently.
Richer dictionaries:
- Dictionaries now show word genders. Things like slang expressions etc. are marked as such. There are usage examples for many (non-English) words.
Ready for macOS Ventura:
- The app was thoroughly modernized and works on macOS Ventura (while still continuing to support older versions down to macOS 10.11).
Improved pronunciation audio:
- Pronunciation recordings are now volume-normalized, processed to remove noise and faster to play.
Improved dark mode and styling:
- It was good before. It's better now.

I has been using Dictionary on both my computers for long time, I like how's it's integrated in OS environment and it's very handy!!!

A nice selection of dictionaries that integrates well into the system Dictionary app and are therefore available everywhere.
I had an issue due to my Mac still running El Capitan (OS 10.11) and the developer sent me a working custom build 12 (twelve) minutes after my email report. Now, that's what I call support!
