Table Tool overview

TableTool handles a lot of things automatically. It detects the specification of a CSV file for you and displays its contents in a table view. Using TableTool is the easy way to create, edit and convert CSV files.

Table Tool Features:
  • Open Files: When opening a CSV file, TableTool detects the format specifications (record delimiter, character encoding, etc.) automatically. You can also set the specifications manually.
  • Edit Files: Edit the contents of the cells, rows and columns of the document easily in a grid based user interface.
  • Convert Files: Convert an existing CSV file to a different format.
  • Table Tool is released as Open Source under the MIT License. The source code is available on Github.

What’s new in version 1.2.1

Version 1.2.1:
  • Fixed a problem where files with unrecognised format could not be opened
  • Fixed an issue where Table Tool didn't work on older versions of macOS

I can no longer recommend this tool. Development has been cheased. Furthermore it strips leading zeros from field entries looking like numbers. Excel behaves the same. "Easy csv" is a lot better.

Attractive and powerful. Simplicity and elegance. TableTool helped me clean up a LastPass export in record time for import elsewhere. The only feature missing for me was some way to put in placeholders in empty cells in at least a semi-automatic way. Once I'd fixed up most of the issues, I had to reopen in OpenOffice to fill a mainly empty column after a sort. Table Tool makes it much easier to manipulate and check a CSV than OpenOffice. Like the right size screwdriver instead of a clumsy large Swiss Army knife. Better than most of the paid tools in the Mac CSV world.

The best program to edit csv/tsv-files. Very useful to prepare data for import to a database program or to modify data exported from one.
