This app is just what I was looking for. I have a 4K monitor but only regularly use three resolutions. I love that Displays lets me hide the other resolutions I never use. I tried a few similar resolution-switching apps that didn't have that feature. Displays also lets me assign a keyboard shortcuts to each resolution, so I can now switch resolutions even faster. And I like that I can also name the resolutions. Overall, I great app.

Displays gave me 1440p and 1600p for my 4k monitor. Text is slightly slightly blurry due to scaling) but it's better than being stuck at 1080p thanks to Apple's opinions. What would be REALLY great is if we could figure out how to unlock full 4k (which the GT650m IS capable of).

It is VERY EASY to use. Its icon is always visible in the Finder menu bar (top right of the screen) and I can access it instantly with one mouse click, scroll down to the resolution I want to use and that is it - no distraction from the work at hand. It shows me the previous resolution I used, making it very easy to work with. I have a Macbook Pro r13 retina and need to change resolutions all the time. Sometimes I need a lower resolution so I can read text and sometimes I want to see many things on the screen at once. Using the Mac System Prefs to change resolution was Very slow and it limited me to only 45 options. This gives me 18 options for screen size. It works just as well with an external monitor I connected to the MBP by thunderbolt - DVI adapter., In this case, the icon for it appeared on top of the DVI screen as well as on the built-in Retina of my MBP. In addition to controlling the resolution, it has a mouse pointer highlight which puts a circle of light at the tip of the mouse. This would be excellent if you are doing instructional screen capture videos. There is also a toggle to hide/show all icons on your desktop. I have not looked at too many other resolution control apps, because when I found this one, I stopped looking because it did everything I need in the way I needed—quick and simple and helpful (remembering settings, showing info about its icons when hovering with the mouse, etc.) The five dollars price is a super bargain. I am amazed it is so inexpensive relative to the sophistication of its programming.. AND the developer was very responsive when I wrote with a question about my serial number.

Perfect for switching to a new resolution very easily and appreciate some functions like night mode (but I'd like to see more options like in night shift for iOS). You can customize resolution label, and it's better, because when you have many resolutions offered, it's easier to find your favorite resolutions. That could be cool to be able to disable a particular monitor !
