Features and improvements
- From the Malwarebytes icon in your Mac menu header bar, you can view a brand new notifications section for protection alerts and general product updates.
- New Notifications settings page in the app where you can customize your notification settings.
- New scan notification that reminds you to run a scan if none have been run for 30 days.
- Updated the General settings page to match the look and feel of the rest of the app.
Issues fixed
- Removed a red dot from the Malwarebytes icon in the dock that appeared when your Trusted Advisor score fell below 100%.
- Fixed an issue where new status menu was only partially displayed to licensed users.
- Added country flags for new server locations in our server location list.
- Improved VPN performance.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Latest version 5.6.0 forces a new menubar item on you with no option to turn it off - by design. Some people may want this - I don't. Software developers shouldn't take up valuable menubar space without providing the option to turn it off for those who don't want it.

I wish MU would catch up with the last few years of Malwarebytes for Mac. It's NOT an "adware removal tool", but rather: "Mac virus scan and antivirus. I could further bombard with feature quotes from the developer's page. Please check it out for yourself. I consider Malwarebytes for Mac one of the essential anti-malware apps for Mac.

v5.4.1.1525 is out as of July 14th. The new 2D color-on-black GUI is impressive. Included is a graph of CPU usage by the app. It's still FREE. Added in the Standard version are "24/7 antivirus & anti-malware protection" and "Browser Guard: Extension for a faster, safer, and cleaner browsing experience." The Plus version adds access to a VPN with kill switch. COSTS per device: Standard - $3.75/mo. ($44.99 Billed annually). Plus - $5.00/mo. ($59.99 Billed annually).

v4.21.9 is out. --> NOTE: Malwarebytes is NOT JUST an adware removal tool. As such, the one line description here at MU is currently WRONG. The early version of the app was indeed an adware removal tool. But NOW its scope is ALL current MALWARE of any known kind. Read through the OVERVIEW above for details. It's far faster than other anti-malware apps in that it checks all the infection locations of known malware on Macs. It does not scan every bit and byte on your drive. As such, it's more efficient in scanning speed. I personally use it as a supplemental scanner, with Intego VirusBarrier as my general anti-malware scanner.
