Master Spell overview
Master Spell administers spelling drills using the Mac's speech capabilities. Where programs for beginning spellers leave off, Master Spell takes you to mastery of spelling for ages 8 through adulthood. Features custom spelling word lists, alternate spellings, adjustable pronunciation and definitive clues, audible and visible cooperative correction, review of misspelled words, individual test histories.

- Added Sparkle in-app updater

- Now does not allow the user to type ahead when spelling back the correction
- Fixed a problem that would disable the Start Drill button after cancelling mid-drill

- Pronunciation fixes to internal speech text for newer voices

The is a great program and it is now free. I have always been a poor speller, but I have never found a program which would drill you on words like this one does. Great idea and program for any age.

Best spelling program for Mac OS X. It works very well, is effective for spelling practice, and is easy to use. Note that the 12 MB download is for the demo/lite version; after you register the software you download the full version (55 MB) or order it on CD.

Very cool! I do run the 9.x version though - clearer speech (that's why the one for X is a beta). My 7 yo loves it, and it's a GREAT way for her to practice her school spelling. I love entering the words and then having the example sentances magically appear! Love the existing words, and fun categories! Words missed will resurface in future tests until they're mastered - great feature!

I like the program a lot, but I was wondering if there was any way that you could have it ask you vocabulary and spelling.
