Beyond Compare overview
Beyond Compare allows you to quickly and easily compare your files and folders. By using simple, powerful commands you can focus on the differences you're interested in and ignore the rest. You can then merge the changes, synchronize your files, and generate reports for your records. You can compare entire drives and folders at high speed, checking just sizes and modified times, or thoroughly verify every file with byte-by-byte comparisons. Once you've found specific files you're interested in, Beyond Compare can intelligently pick the best way to compare and display them. Text files can be viewed and edited with syntax highlighting and comparison rules tweaked specifically for documents, source code, and HTML. The text contents of Microsoft Word .doc and Adobe .pdf files can also be compared but not edited. Data files, executables, binary data, and images all have dedicated viewers as well, so you always have a clear view of the changes.
The Pro version of Beyond Compare adds the following features: 3-way text merge, 3-way folder merge, built-in SFTP support, text replacement, Folder-Compare alignment overrides, and support for WebDAV, Dropbox, and subversion. Pricing information can be found here.

FTP
- Fixed "timeout (110)" errors when connecting to SFTP servers that expect the client to send the welcome packet first.

- Windows: Fixed installer putting the Start Menu icon in the top-level Start Menu folder rather than the Start Menu\Programs subfolder.
Misc
- Linux: Fixed missing UTF-8/UTF-16 options in file encoding dropdowns.
- macOS: Fixed number/decimal separator showing as ? for some regions.
- macOS: Fixed path edit autocomplete in main comparison windows.
- Fixed reading text lines longer than 65536 characters in various places.
Picture Compare
- Fixed changing tolerance after the initial comparison is done to update the comparison results.
Registry Compare
- Fixed parse error for .reg files with lines longer than 65536 characters.
Table Compare
- Fixed canceling "Go To" and "Resize Column" dialogs.
- Fixed comparing region settings.
- Fixed MS Excel Workbook comparisons to use system's regional settings instead of forcing English ones.
- Fixed displaying negative numbers as "-x" instead of "(x)".
- Fixed detection of numbers to require a digit before or after the decimal separator.
- Fixed HTML reports formatting the first sheet's name differently than the rest.
Text Compare
- Fixed "Next Difference" to not skip missing lines.
Crashes
- Linux: Fixed crash/hang when generating a report.
- Fixed crash when using "Swap Sides" in Media and Version Compare when there are hidden items.

Just to say, BC cannot text-wrap so if you need to diff long lines this makes it very annoying to use. Otherwise this is an excellent tool.

I also have been a BeyondCompare user on Windows for many years and was so excited to see that they made a Mac version.
It is clearly the best diff tool for Mac. Scooter did a wonderful job porting the tool over to Mac OSX. Congratulations and THANK YOU!
MacUpdate seems to be a bit slow on the updates so I'd just head over to scootersoftware.com and get it directly from them.
