For those who may not know, Double Commander is supported by developers who donate their time, and provide versions of DC that run on Windows, macOS, many flavors of Linux, BeOS, OS/2 and many others. I use the Windows and LInux versions daily, and some day, when TotalFinder on the mac will no longer run because of Apple restrictions, I will probably use DC on mac. I don't need all the bells and whistles of PathFinder and Forklift, and both are bloated for what I want, which is a responsive dual pane file manager, period. Since I use many multiple platforms, the consistent UI and UX across all DC versions is a plus. If you are looking for an app that conforms to macOS UI accepted norms, well DC isn't for you, but that is no reason to criticize it, it's an intentional decision, in order to provide multi platform support.
