Guardian Angel overview

Guardian Angel watches over your computer when you can't, connecting to your phone via low-energy Bluetooth and locking your Mac whenever you leave, whether you're gone for a few seconds or a few hours, and automatically unlocking it when you return.

Not Too Close For Comfort: When you run Guardian Angel for the first time, you can choose how far you want to be from your Mac before it locks, so whether you are at home or in the office, you can tweak the range to your liking. No Phone? No Problem: Before Guardian Angel gets to work, you'll be prompted to set a password to be used as a backup. That way, if you lose your phone, or it goes out of range, you can still get back into your Mac the old fashioned way.

Key Features
  • Alter the range at which Guardian Angel locks your Mac
  • Use Apple's screensaver as your lock screen
  • Built-in actions to pause your iTunes and set your IM status to away when your Mac locks
  • Add custom actions that take place when your Mac locks or unlocks.
  • Support for multiple monitors

OK, I have never before had to explicitly warn anyone about an application, but this is it. I downloaded Guardian Angel and launched it. It searches for a device. Finds none (my iphone is 20 cm away with Bluetooth on). Try again. No luck. I then click the General button to have a look at the settings. and the screen is suddenly locked. It asks for a password I never had the oppourtunity to set. Force reboot, and goodbye Guardian Angel.

The second half, with the RSSI value of 127 started when I turned off the phones Bluetooth. But it just keeps repeating the same segments over and over, and never locks the Mac. Also, if I manually lock the Mac from GA and turn on the phones Bluetooth, it will not unlock the Mac.

Nice try, but it just doesn't work. It paired fine with my iPhone 5, but refuses to lock my MacBook Air when the phone is out of range or if the phone's Bluetooth is turned off.

Program locked computer when I left but would not unlock it on my return. No guide with program so had to learn how to use it by trial and error. May be the cause of it not working for me.
