iBackup Extractor overview

iBackup Extractor allows you to access and recover your files from your iTunes backups. If your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost, stolen, or not working, or if you accidentally deleted some of your contacts, photos, or SMS, use iBackup Extractor to browse and extract files from your iTunes backups. These are the backups created by iTunes when it synced your device in the past.

iBackup Extractor finds your iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad backups automatically. You can choose the backup you wish to browse and extract files from, and proceed to view the backup of your Call Logs, Contacts, Messages, Photos, Calendars, Internet Browsing History and Bookmarks, Notes, App Data, all directly in Backup Extractor. Once you've selected what you wish to extract, the operation is as simple as clicking a button. Literally, click "Copy" to transfer those files, converted to a readily available format, directly to your computer. Another feature present in iBackup Extractor is the Backup Explorer, which allows you to see the file system itself, and to copy files from it. Finally, you can use iBackup Extractor to create new backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, as well as restore your device from backup.

Reliability: 2.0

I was really hoping that this app would recover my information from the iTunes backup. However, the information retrieved from the calendar only listed events without dates, so it was pretty useless. The pictures were retrieved, but unfortunately, most of them turned out to be too small. On top of that, I couldn't even download my pictures to the computer because the app kept crashing. Overall, it was a useless experience for me.

Great way to retrieve photos I thought I lost from my iPhone backup. Dead easy to use too...

This sounds like a good and useful utility. But I'm unconvinced it's twenty-five bucks worth of useful. I think developers ought to think harder before setting their prices. Do you make a greater profit selling a lot of copies at a low price, or fewer copies at a high one? Personally, I suspect the former is true. But then again, what do I know? I'm only a consumer.
