There is another similar app known as Commander One which also very similar to Dcommaner. Commander One and Dcommander are exactly similar in interface---to the point of one can mistake one for the other. Their feautures are also very similar. I have outlined the differences if they are going to help sb: - the interface is exactly identical to Dcommander - Everything looks the same. Minor differences: - DCommander has a sidebar; Commander One has no - Some features of the Apple Finder are available in Commander one: - spotlight search - Services--this is very useful - DC: supports regex search: CO does not - DC uses Quicklook is with Space: CO uses with CMD+Y - CO allows keyboard customizations: DC does not. If Commander One has the sidebars that DC has, I would have preferred it especially the fact that the regular Finder Services are very useful. But, the absence of a sidebar is a huge drawback.

I have tried a couple of those Finder replacements. Path Finder is great. But, its speed is nowhere as close as this one. The other Finder alternative I find to be extremely fast is Nimble Commander. I prefer these over the big ones such as Finder, Path Finder, and Forklift because they are much faster and lighter for my old mac (still using Macbook Pron from 2011). I find Dcommander to be slightly better than Nimble Commander for it has sidebars. Navigation is much easier. The right sidebar is also good for checking file properties. Finally, like Pathfinder, Dcommander has Dropstack where you can keep your files temporarily.

This 5 star rating is to make up for my half star rating back in March. Combined they give an average rating. In hindsight, I was perhaps a little harsh. Having said that, the fact remains that DCommander costs $29, in a market where similar apps exist, some of which are free. The $29 is not a lifetime license, but only provides 1 year of updates, or you can subscribe for $19 a year. Although you can download a trial here on MU, on the dev's website, the only option is to purchase outright.

This is a 'copy cat' app, of Double Commander, which is a FREE, open source app that has been around since 2007 and available for Mac, Windows, FreeBsd and most other Linux distros. Even to the point of using a very similar name 'DCommander', and almost the same app description, calling itself based on 'Total Commander'. No, the original Double Commander is based on Total Commander; DCommander is based on Double Commander. It would not surprise me if the developer has 'borrowed' from the open source code for Double Commander. Try the 'real' Double Commander, at https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/, it is stable, cross platform.
