IINA does this and a lot more (AB looping for instance) for free. The functionality is under the Playback menu, Take Screenshot or simply command-S.

I have been looking for an app like this for a while. I often need to extract an image from videos from my dashcam or other camera, and I had previously been using ffmpeg which extracts an image for each frame of the video, which can be several hundred images for less than a minute of video. With SnapMotion, all I have to do is move through the video, find the frame I want and capture it, then move on to another if I want more. I can extract single images or groups of images, and I have a choice of formats to export them in. It couldn’t be easier!
