Multimon overview

Multimon enhances your Mac's setup if you use multiple monitors in your setup.

Features:

  • Multiple menu bars on any number of screens.
  • Advanced window management for quickly dealing with multiple windows.
  • Automatic window resizing for monitors of different sizes.
  • Customizable hot keys for quick management of your monitors.
Not sure what you'd do with more than one monitor? Here are some ideas:
  • Essays, research, etc.: Open your document on one side and read while you take notes or type out that next essay for class.
  • Reference Images: Are you an artist? Have your reference images open in one monitor while you work in another. Get all the visual information you need at a glance without any extra work.
  • Gaming: Hey, even the best gamers need some help sometimes (we won't tell). If you're ever stuck, having a second monitor for walkthroughs or guides is the perfect way to get through that last level and brag about it online; all without leaving the game!

What’s new in version 2.9

Version 2.9:
  • Support for OS X 10.9
  • Hotkeys for vertical window movement between monitors

Having a MBP, I am using an external monitor when I'm in the office. Thus, when I arrive at the office I need to arrange the windows between the two monitors. When I work away from the office this setting collapses to the MPB single monitor. I hoped that Multimon will enable me to remember the arrangement of the windows in the office and away from the office. I purchased and activated Multimon, nicely arranged all the windows between the two monitors and then disconnected the external monitor and reconnected it again with the Thunderbolt plug. NOTHING. I repeated that a few times and even contacted Multimon support. NOTHING - it doesn't do what it pormisses. Another issue is whenever I move to a space in which a full screen application is open, the menubar on the second monitor vanishes (which is OK). However, when I move to another space with multiple applications, the menubar on the secondary screen (i.e., Multimon menubar) doesn't reappear. If I want it to reappear, I need to use the shortcut (cntrl-option-H) TWICE !

I am anxious to try this software; it sounds promising. But alas, it does not work with Snow Leopard right now (according to dev)! Bummer, I am using Snow Leopard. Just wanted to say can't wait until it's fixed to work with Snow Leopard!! Soon please and thank you!!

Multimon seems to have been thought only for side-by-side monitors configurations, mine is vertical with one monitor on top of the other. Not working for me... + other issues... 1- App Store only, no demo ---> I lost $10 2- Does not allow windows to be expanded across 2 monitors. If I do, the window snaps to one monitor or the other after a second or so. This is a deal breaker for me. 3- Menu mentions "left monitor" and "Right monitor", no option to change to Top and Bottom like I have. 4- Clock display does not follow my System preference for 24-hour format. Tutorial says setting available in Preferences, but nowhere to be found. 5- The green dot on each window looses its "toggle" functionality, i.e., in Mac OS X, one click maximizes window and the next click brings it back to original size/position, but with Multimon. only maximizes. I don't want to loose the Toggle functionality! 6- Multimon menu is supposed to appear at the end of each menu bar, but only appears in one menu bar. On the good side, this is implemented as an app, so it is easy to start and stop, not some system-level add-on that require rebooting. This app does not work for me, it may work for some people though. About my ratings, Macupdate forces to rate "Stability" but I don't have a real opinion, just it didn't crash for the short time I tested the app.
