Metanota Pro overview

Metanota Pro is a beautiful OS X client and editor for creating and managing notes using well known cloud based services like SimpleNote and Evernote or simply local notes on your Mac. Other note-taking cloud providers will be added constantly.

The Pro version is advertising-free and all options are activated by default.

All functions are easy to see and access
The user interface is carefully streamlined, no unnecessary elements are left floating around. Metanota's goal is to avoid interfering between you and your work.

Markdown highlighting
Nearly all Markdown specs are correctly displayed and sync'ed to the supported online providers. And it really looks beautiful in the note editor.

Intelligent auto-formatting (if you don't like Markdown)
The note editor automatically formats the first line of a note as header and shows lists as, well, lists. Just put a dash (-) and space in front of a paragraph and the correct indentation is added at once. Or, if you like plain and simple text, you can selectively turn off each feature.

In sync with your Simplenote and/or Evernote account(s)
All notes and tags, even deleted notes, are kept perfectly synchronized. But you can work offline as long as you want.

Fully manage Simplenote tags
Tags are presented as folders, making easy to neatly organize your content. Local folders can be created, renamed or deleted, every change being promptly replicated to your SimpleNote account.

And, last but not least, Metanota is maybe the only option we have to actually rename a Simplenote tag.

What’s new in version 2.4

Version 2.4:
  • Multiple note selection (including drag and drop of multiple notes between sync providers)
  • Evernote sync improvements
  • Evernote’s default folder is now highlighted and can be changed from Metanota
  • Evernote’s "API limit reached" error is showing in the UI
  • Bug fixing

It's a nice product however the problem is it doesn't keep formatting, formatting notes (font, colour etc) doesn't seem to get across to Evernote. I mentioned the lack of sync of formatting and ability to attach files such as PDF here.... https://discussion.evernote.com/staging2/topic/63382-metanota-alternative-client-for-evernote-for-mac-osx-well-almost-but-not-entirely/ I don't know if it's just me, but formatting and adding PDFs didn't work, which is major requirement and one of the reasons for using Evernote rather than some other simple note taking application with sync.

Kinda, sorta agree. But any developer who puts ads into thier apps to force you to buy an app free version simply has that app automatically deleted from my computer - don't care who, don't care how terrific the ad-free app is. In this case there are better note taking apps in any case.

Metanota doesn't seem to be getting the credit it deserves. Its ability to visually organize notes, to play well with other markdown apps (Simplenote and NVAlt in particular) and its excellent tech support make it a great deal. Although I haven't taken advantage of Metanota's ability to sync with Evernote, that can only be "icing on the cake" for people who do use that option.

This is difficult to fault. I rely on Simplenote and Evernote for working in different locations and on different platforms. Metanota just works. And the interface is nice and clean. Recommended without reservation.
