Acid Cam overview

Acid Cam is a application that manipulates input from your Web Cam or iSight and produces original output based on that data. You can save a snapshot image of whats currently being rendered, or use the new Record feature, to record video.

While recording the program will slow down dramatically, however when the video is viewed it will play back at the correct frame rate/speed.

About the Effects

  • The effects involving images, distort the view based off a still image.
  • The other effects, are just patterns of change to distort the data.

This app is fun, and appears to work flawlessly for me. Additionally, it plays nice with other webcam effects apps I've installed, making it twice the fun! Many, many thanks to the developer for this great and FREE software!

I'm having a great time with this application. I love the new feature of recording at my webcam's resolution. Easy to use - stable - and fun! On top of that, using several of the effects and blending the images in Photoshop was a blast. Thank you!

This is a fun, easy to use app that is totally fitting in with the "photo app" craze that seems to be taking over digital photography. Good fun without many complicators. I recommend this to anyone interested in a cool camera app.

Seems to roll through the Color Lookup Tables in slightly different ways, then reverts back to normal. I first tried this - admittedly not on live video- using BlissPaint many years ago. Except BlissPaint actually gave you some control over how the CLUTs were being cycled through. This app is more like the original iTunes visualised- just try them out and hope for the best. It also seems unfinished for a v1.5. There’s no indication of what the point is in choosing a static image for some of the filters. Or what will happen with your sound file when you select one. Lastly, the video that it exports is low-res at only 640x360. The app is possibly slowed down by the fact that it insists on keeping two video windows open, one for the raw iSight video, and the other for the processed video. I don’t need to see the original video, just show me one window and give me the option to bypass the filters like in Logic or any audio application.

The website says it's for 10.6, MacUpdate say 10.7 or later... which is it?
