Encryption Buddy overview

Encryption Buddy is an app for your Mac that will allow you to password protect and encrypt any type of file. Encryption Buddy has a clean, easy to use and understand interface: Simply drag-and-drop the files that you want to encrypt / password protect into the main window, supply a password, and click "Encrypt My Files!" Decryption is just as easy - and no one can decrypt your files unless they have the Encryption Buddy app and your password.

This tiny app allows user to protect and encrypt any type of files. Drag and drop the files you want to encrypt or protect with password to the application window. Create a password and click “Encrypt My Files”. It takes some time. In order to decrypt this file you should do almost the same. Easy as a pie. Attention: Make sure your passwords are stong enough but at the same time they are easy to rememeber. Forgotten password means lost data.

Developer, what is the encryption used? AES-256? And if I drag multiple files in Encryption Buddy, will these be encrypted individually? I.e. remain separate files?

Save your money people!! Use Disk Utility to make an encrypted disk image (.dmg) file and store all your sensitive stuff *cough/pron/cough* in there. You can even make an encrypted disk image from a folder, which this app can not, if you choose the File -> New option from the menu bar.

What is not included in the product description is that it works on files only, not folders. Granted, it is inexpensive with a good drag-and-drop interface but it was a surprise not being able to work with a folder. The simple solution is to right-click the folder, compress (making it a file) and then drag-drop it to Encryption Buddy. The file extension goes from '.zip' to '.eb' Not bad.
