AutoPurge overview

AutoPurge optimizes your system memory with a single click.

If you do use a lot of applications, or huge applications, your amount of free memory may quickly decrease, as you use your computer, especially on systems with low memory capabilities. Your Mac may then become slow.

AutoPurge will force the system to reclaim free memory, making it available again to applications that need it.

The AutoPurge menu displays extended statistics about your Mac's current memory usage.

It can also be configured, from its preferences, to automatically purge memory based on a specific time intervals. You can even choose if the automatic purge can be launched when you're using your computer, or only when your Mac is idle.

Today I upgraded to Yosemite and am looking for app updates. This app along with all their other apps were discontinued by the developer. Thankfully, AutoPurge opened right up in Yosemite and is functioning normally. There are several free up-to-date apps in the MAS that do the same thing, but I like AP's features. Some of the others require you to monitor performance and click a button to free memory when necessary. Why should I do that? That's the app's job! I set AutoPurge to free RAM every 60 minutes, and never have to think about it. Some free MAS apps are FreeRam Booster 2, Memory Monitor and Memory Clean.

I agree with Big. When you're out of RAM, you're in a tight. I don't use this app only because I prefer the DIY approach, when it comes to freeing memory. Big, if you use and like AutoPurge, you ought to give it some stars. Why shaft the author by letting TBGX's half-star stand as definitive?
