FormatMatch overview

FormatMatch automatically removes formatting from clipboard text.

Frustrated with undesirable formatting when pasting text from a webpage, e-mail or document? FormatMatch is the answer! When pasting the copied text, FormatMatch matches the formatting of the application in which you are currently working and removes all formatting such as tables and images.

FormatMatch can start at login. To enable start at login, open the preferences and check "Start at Login" (disabled by default). The next time you login, FormatMatch will automatically start ready to use!

FormatMatch can be activated and deactivated using a shortcut key (disabled by default). The keyboard shortcut allows you to activate / deactivate FormatMatch without having to take your hands of the keyboard.

To enable the shortcut key, open the preferences, check "Enable shortcut key..." and press any key combination you desire to activate / deactivate FormatMatch. Note that any application using this shortcut key will no longer respond to the key combination. It is therefor recommended that you only use the CTRL key + any other key as your shortcut.

Fantastic! Two thumbs all the way up! As a PhD student writing a thesis, which involves a lot of cutting and pasting from research documents to final drafts - well, this to me is a godsend! FormatMatch - where have you been all my academic life?

I have been trying to get MS WORD to do this by default for years, its so much less complicated than "PASTE SPECIAL" or other options.... To the previous reviewer: How it is NOT easier than CMD-ALT-SHIFT-V? Just because YOU don't have a need for this, does not mean that it is not useful. Imagine having to CMD-ALT-SHIFT-V numerous times a day on your laptop, while sitting in a car all day.... This app put a smile on my face all day... I just wish I didn't have to install it from the App Store... I prefer to download direct from MU.

I fail too see how this app is more efficient than simply using shift+alt+cmd+v instead of cmd+v when pasting.
