Filr overview

Filr is a compact application that allows you to quickly and easily rename, tag, and comment on files. It works a bit differently than most tagging apps: when a group of files is opened, Filr presents each one individually rather than as a group. It's great for sorting through groups of potentially unrelated files.

Rename: Change the name of the file. Filr preserves the extension so you don't have to.

Tag: Filr allows you to easily add and modify OpenMeta tags, so it's perfect for a tag-based workflow.

Comment: FIlr can show and edit the file's Spotlight comments, so you can add short notes to any file.

When used with a Folder Action script or a 3rd-party scripting application like Hazel, you can add a group of files to a folder and then immediately step through each one, changing its name, tags, and comment to something appropriate for the file. It's quick and seamless.

Pretty good. A few observations: A short help file would be good, with at least the following... 1) You can load files by doing a File>Open, or by dragging and dropping a selection of files onto the Dock icon 2) You can move between the fields using the Tab key 3) Command + Enter accepts the changes and moves to the next file I will be using this to carry out my weekly scan and tag routine, as I think it will be quicker than using Tags to tag every file individually. It's a bit basic, but for what it does that's not a bad thing. I'd rather it was simple and effective than try to have too many features and functions. A button to go back one file is one addition I'd like to see.
