Shanghai Mahjong for Mac

Okay, if you read any of my reviews for a wide range of programs, I have been adamantly opposed to anyone who does not offer a demo. And I hate the App Store. However, the Mahjong program I've used for a long time has been crashing on me as of late, and I wanted to try something else. This seemed the most promising of what I found, and I decided that for the price, I would take a chance. Frankly, it's a rather nice rendition. It has a good range of icon sets, backgrounds, and layouts, and for the price, it’s a pretty good bargain. But now I also have to detest the developers because, darn it, I ended up buying a program from the App Store without a demo. Darn you, developers! : ) By the way, I am aware that there are reviewers out there who detest any game that has “Mahjong” in the title and is not also a true Mahjong game. I respect that, but the term “mahjong” has, by this time, entered the English lexicon to encompass a broader range of meanings than the original. One can also find various kinds of games with the word “chess” in them that have no relation to the actual game of chess. Language evolves. I have one request of the developers: I’m a fan of the very old Classic game, “Shanghai.” They had some cool tile sets. Any chance you can reproduce those? I can send you screenshots or whatever might help. Thanks.

Can't download the Mac OSX version. I only get an option to download the 99cent or lite versions. Please advise, thanks, Colleen

My favourite mahjong solitaire game on the iPad is now on the Mac, and unlike some recent arrivals in the Mac App Store, this isn't just a direct port. The devs have kept all the good stuff, and wrapped it up in a proper Mac interface, including an actual menubar menu. My only (minor) complaint is that I cannot hide the timer like I can on the iPad version.
