Apptivate overview
Apptivate lets you assign a system-wide shortcut for any application, script, or other file on your system for easy access at any time. Simply launch Apptivate, select an application or any other file, choose a key combination, and there you have it! Instant access any time.You can also take a quick peek at any application by pressing and holding the hotkey. When the hotkey is released, the application is hidden.

This is simply the best - it is still going strong on Sonoma public beta ... and I have been using it for years. It is an incredible little app. FIVE STAR

I just upgraded to Sierra, and was so happy to see this updated to 2.2 on the developers website with support and bugs fixed.
This application is simply amazing, to me it beats all those type to launch tools by providing immediate access.
I use it to mimic the windows taskbar feature of cmd/win + number to focus on the set application.
I am so happy and love cocoa beans. Sincere thanks.

But hard to manage many items (over 20 favourite folders, scripts, many many apps)

It still works like a charm.
4 stars rather than 5 because it'd be nice to simplify the setup, say, by choosing from running apps.
Last year I thought it'd be a good idea to switch to some Nu Kit, which was de facto abandoned.
