Chromatic is an easy way to install and update Chromium, the open source project behind Google Chrome. Chromatic allows you to select a release channel (Stable, Beta, …), use the latest build available, or choose a specific build.
For those who can't or won't live with the occasional snafus of open source (volunteer) software but still want to whinge about it... in this case get a clue. The solution is right there above in the "similar" software, though as usual for MacUpdate it is not similar.
Download Chromatic, set it to "Stable," and it will (re)install the most dependable version. I was back up and running in 3 minutes after the latest update crashed twice.
Version 0.2.2 stopped working (crash on start). Not sure if due to the 10.8.1 ML update or something with the way the chromium links are organized. Very useful application when it worked.
This app does work on 10.5 Leopard and on PowerPC but it installs Chromium for an Intel only OS. Waste of time, the system requirements should say something like this.
