Tunesify Lite overview

Tunesify Lite is the simplest way to convert FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files into formats supported by iTunes, iPods and iPhones. FLAC files can be converted to Apple Lossless, which preserves the true CD-quality sound. Files can also be converted to AAC or WAV formats.

Upgrade to the full version of Tunesify, available exclusively on the Mac App Store, to add support for converting many different audio formats such as WMA, WavPack, Monkey's Audio, WAV, FLV and Ogg Vorbis. Tunesify also allows files to be converted to MP3 format, converts files up to 4X faster on multicore computers and takes advantage of your 64-bit processor. With the full version of Tunesify you can choose output directories, encoding bit rates, encoding strategies and customize the automatic mode.

Tunesify Lite will fully convert FLAC files to Apple Lossless, AAC or WAV and will create 30 second previews of other conversions that are only supported by the full version of Tunesify. This allows you to check if your files are compatible before purchasing on the Mac App Store. Previews are also created when converting to MP3 format.

Tunesify uses the Core Audio and LAME encoders in order to ensure the highest quality audio conversions.

It was a headache, but I found app-waltr which transfers FLAC + 4k video+no iTunes and many more on iPhone without converting. Blast.

Version 1.1.1 DOES work on 10.6.8. Thanks to the developer for fixing this. Nice, intuitive/obvious UI with drag 'n drop capability. And I still like the icon. And Tunesify Lite IS free.

Ver. 1.1 craps out on start up using a 2010 MBP (64 bit) with OS 10.6.8. Nice icon though... Maybe it's my imagination but it seems that MAS applications have more of a tendency not to work than those available directly from the developer.

NOTE: Although it is says this app is "Free"...it is actually a DEMO for a COMMERCIAL app. "Tunesify Lite will create 30 second previews of audio files that are only supported by the full version of Tunesify." Don't try to actually use this for anything other than to see if you want to buy the commercial app. I give it a poor overall rating because this is misleading, a poor Features rating because it is crippled, and a poor Value rating because I wasted my time trying to accomplish the task, "convert a flac file to mp3".

FLAC2Mac could bring something new and compelling in the future. But in the mean time, use Max/XLD/xACT. More features, more mature code, good performance.
