ArtMatic Voyager overview

ArtMatic Voyager is an application by Eric Wenger, father of Bryce 3D, that allows artists to create, explore and render stunning, photo-realistic 3D worlds with exquisite detail. It uses non-polygonal rendering techniques that allow huge worlds (several times larger than Earth) to be created from compact files. ArtMatic Voyager worlds can be based on either the built-in planet models or external ArtMatic files. ArtMatic Pro (available separately or as a bundle companion) can be used to design entirely new terrains, color textures, cloudscapes and backdrops.

The simple, modeless user interface makes exploration and design both easy and fun. ArtMatic Voyager can render both high-resolution images and animation. The large library of provided examples makes it easy to begin exploring right away, and the advanced tutorials provide instruction on using ArtMatic Pro to design new worlds from scratch.

I really love this app and also its "brother" called Artmatic (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/3531/artmatic). It allows very fast results, animated and has endless possibilities & variations, especially in the field of arts & nature-like-visualisation. New features allow direct communication with Artmatic. The interface could be improved a little but all in all the results & speed is really great. Documentation is good, software comes with a lot examples to explore & learn. Unfortunately the infos here are not up-to-date. Currently Artmatic is on version 6 and Voyager on version 3. Released a view month ago in 2014. Some stuff I already made: https://www.behance.net/gallery/18143795/201407-Artmatic-6-Voyager-3-Visual-Art The FB page to explore a lot of the new possibilities: https://www.facebook.com/ArtMatic

Instant gratification with these images and how they can be altered into dramatic differences, as stills. The rendering on a 30 inch monitor and mac pro with intel core duo, finally gives me images of clarity and stunning effects and DETAILED sharp images, that I can blow up and print tiled to 16X20 inches plus on my color laser printer.. Tried these effects with Bryce 5 & 6 on mac ppc, but didn't get anywhere the same results and was extremely slow in rendering. The only thing missing here are scenes with vegetation [leaves, plant details] All in all I'm more than satisfied as a graphics aficionado. Together with photoshop I can create collages with people in scenes. The results will be limitless. And with the upgrade pricing discount, I am a happy camper.

So, a polygon-less animated Bryce. Nice, but about 20 years behind cool. MojoWorld (MW) from Pandromeda, tried this as a community, and the application was almost free. EVen their prices soared. I think the novelty wears off pretty fast. So, does the world need another MW? Priced similar to MW, one wonders how much room exists for yet another such application? Nice interface, and nice sample movies (see them at www.uisoftware.com/Voyager/index.html). But, come on Eric, $130.00?? I think that the only way this will survive the economic downturn is for a price point far below this. This said, the high end versions of the big landscape generation tool (starts with a "V" and ends in "UE") is now priced for pros (they need to reconsider their pricing as well), but their low end is pretty cool, not too pricey, and decades ahead of the look of this program. For a retro-look fractal landscape type program (better clouds, it is true) application, this is priced as if it were the only solution on the block. It is not. MW has been around for over a decade, and has a large online following. Best of luck, Eric. Love the Artmatic fractals program, but I just don't know about this... ------- Problems: Installer (.app) is double-clicked and begins install, then up pops: "This installer requires admin privileges to run" message. Shuts me down. Ah well.
