Direct URL overview

Direct URL is a utility to browse a single URL. The name for these kind of apps is Site Specific Browser, SSB in short. This way, you have each webpage in a separate application. See the product page for instructions.

What’s new in version 3.3

Version 3.3:

Note: Now requires OS X 10.7 or later

Application Name
  • In OS X, the application name, when running, was always 'Direct URL', regardless of the name of the website you gave the copy. This has now been fixed. (For Xojo coders who want to this too, see here for the solution: https://forum.xojo.com/37244-rename-app-on-open/)
  • I have left the 'About' and 'Quit' menu items untouched, so these still show 'About Direct URL' and 'Quit Direct URL'.

Seems to be a misleading description, since it opens the URL in a browser anyway. Since both OSX and Windows have a mechanism for creating shortcuts to URLs already, I'm not sure what the point of this application is.
