DiskLibrary overview

Note: DiskLibrary is no longer under development, and it is no longer available for sale.

DiskLibrary is a fun and easy to use disk cataloging application for Mac OS X. DiskLibrary is indispensable if you have a lot of media to keep track of. DiskLibrary catalogs not just your complete file structure, it also creates thumbnails, and stores metadata, for most popular media formats.
  • Makes it easy to catalog all of your CD-ROM's, DVD-ROM's, and removable drives.
  • Catalog the full file structure from CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, remote hard-disks, zip drives, USB sticks, etc.
  • Creates beautiful thumbnails of images, movies, PDF document covers, AAC/MP3 album art.
  • Look inside ZIP-files
  • Import Spotlight comments
  • Import CDFinder, WhereIsIt, FileFinder and DiskTracker catalogs
  • Gather meta-data like AAC/MP3 tags, XMP/EXIF/IPTC image info, PDF info, Word/RTF document info.
  • Use smart-catalog folders to store search results just like iTunes.
  • Search in all catalogs for files based on keyword, date, category, size, etc.
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Universal Binary.

I've used DiskLibrary for years, and haven't been worried that there haven't been updates lately, but today I found out that it crashes at launch on Mac OS Sierra (10.12). Help! My disk database is trapped!

Very cool cataloging application with great functionality and GUI. Since version 1.9 it is very faster, the only slow thing is cataloging with metadata. I'm waiting for version 2 (hopeful that will be for tiger). One thing is absolute: it's better than the cluttered CDFinder!

Application arranges numbers like computers did about 1990: After 10 there's 100 instead of 11 an so on. Not very useful for a backup catalog which is likely to be numbered.

This is a note from the developer of DiskLibrary. There have been some performance issues with searching within DiskLibrary (mainly on Mac OS X 10.4). This should have been resolved with version 1.9. Version 1.9 also adds Quick Look support from within DiskLibrary for Mac OS X 10.5 clients. Thanks, Diederik Hoogenboom

Slow and awful. Why didn't I pony up full price for CDfinder instead of buying this second-rate knock off on promo... Two stars for running at all. If you've never used a decent cataloging application and don't use the image cataloging functions DiskLibrary is better than nothing.
