Shortcuts overview

Shortcuts is a Mac OS X application to assign hot keys to contextual menu items. Version 2.0 also allows you to display a menu with items added by CM plug-ins.

Since Apple removed contextual menu plug-ins support for 64 bit applications in Mac OS X 10.6, Shortcuts is currently the only known way to use contextual menu plug-ins in 64 bit applications.

In first mode, it allows you to assign a hot key combination to chosen menu item so you can select some object (file in Finder or text) and hit keyboard combination to execute the task normally performed by choosing that menu item.

In second mode, Shortcuts displays the menu with items populated by contextual menu plug-ins. It can be triggered by a keyboard hot key or from services item

What’s new in version 2.0.2

Version 2.0.2:

Note: 64-bit version 2.1 available here . Requires macOS 10.13+

  • Fixed a problem in OS X 10.7 that bezel window would not show if ShortcutObserver is started as a log-in item
  • Some magic to make "More Items..." checkbox on by default in Services/Keyboard Shortcuts, not requiring users to go to System Preferences to enable it after initial installation

Note that there is a v. 2.1 (64-bit only, requires macOS 10.13 or higher) from September 29, 2019 available there: http://www.abracode.com/free/cmworkshop/shortcuts.html (http://www.abracode.com/free/shortcuts.html is broken) Only downside is if you used it to run 32 bit CMs (most of them were...): none will appear.

Invoking contextual Automator workflows no longer works with v2.0.1 A fix would be appreciated as I found this very useful. Automator is gone from Shortcuts' contextual menus.

The absolute best productivity feature restorer for snow leopard. Used in conjunction with OMC (On My Command) it is a lifesaver.
