ProVideoPlayer overview

ProVideoPlayer was designed to enhanced live staging events such as concerts, trade show booths, conferences, or church services; it manages an unlimited amount of clips in an unlimited number of playlists and gives a tremendous amount of control to the playback of these video clips including Hue, Brightness, Saturation, Start/Stop times, and speed, either on a per-clip basis or universally. Users can easily "audition" the right clips for songs during rehearsal and create playlists for the songs, including clips that will compliment the lighting director's cues for each song. Clicking on a clip will automatically cross-dissolve from the currently running clip smoothly, cross-fading audio of the clips at the same time. Further, multiple machines can be connected on an inexpensive network (wireless, ethernet, or even firewire) to create synchronized multi-screen presentations less expensively than any other available solution. Grid mapping and tiling make multi-projector imagery a snap with powerful results.

Seriously, seriously over priced! PDF documentation is just a sad print from their wiki with barely readable graphics. Apart from that it seems to work well for firing off random videos quickly to multiple projectors and screens. If your running a more scripted and structured show, then use QLab from Figure 53. QLab does a whole lot more, has very granular control and has significantly cheaper licensing options. Whilst I appreciate the amount of work it takes to produce these programs, Renewed Vision really need to change their licensing and pricing structure as ProVideo Player and ProPresenter do not represent good value for money.

There is no relation whatsoever between this app's price ($499) and its capabilities, professional usefulness, or the quality of the few things it does do. It should be priced no higher than $35, and requires quite a lot of improvement and polishing to compete even in that price range. My half-star rating is based on its current price, but would not be substantially higher were it to be improved and repriced as suggested above.

$499? The application crashed on me in my first attempt to import. Given that Apple charged $499 for Shake, I think you can probably bet on a $49 price for this tool.
