PrintFab overview

PrintFab is our new printer-driver suite with RIP functionality. The innovative, dynamic PrintFab color profiles ensure full control over color mixture and ink consumption combined with perfect print quality. It also allows network printing, e.g., to other Mac or Windows computers, or to a printer server box. Choose from a wide range of inkjet media: Printfab also supports photo paper from other manufacturers (e.g., Kodak and Ilford).

PrintFab informs you how much ink is used for each page. The intelligent ink saving system reduces ink consumption by 25-50% - at first glance you won't even notice the difference! Another special feature is the PrintFab color profile service. We create individual color profiles for your printer, paper, and ink at a very affordable price. Using PrintFab Pro's CMYK proof mode you can print CMYK Postscript and PDF documents with accurate colors. Download the free PrintFab test version (fully operational for 30 days).

There are two versions: home and professional. PrintFab Home is designed for the advanced home user and the ambitious photographer. PrintFab Pro is designed for professional users, especially in publishing and pre-press business.

PrintFab is now Mountain Lion compatible… at last. After several months waiting, i find the update… is a paid one. Since i don't see any improvement except the ML compatibility (and some new drivers that obviously don't concern old clients), i don't see the point of paying for a piece of software i already own. More, i read PF website: "for a small surcharge… use it on up to 3 computers. Small surcharge? More than double the price! People can count, ya know… So now i'm stuck with this choice: keep my PrintFab version that's not compatible with Mountain Lion, or paying a fee to be able to use it. I hate that! Dear PrintFab people, i don't want you to get my money for nothing more than a compatibility issue. We're in the iOS apps era, small fees and free updates. Forget the 90's and expensive upgrades for nothing, long waits for compatibility… I'll find another solution. Starting by saving a few…

I use an old HP 1220C (DinA3+) wich HP doesn`t support any more = No Driver for Snow-Leopard. I tried GutenPrint Drivers and HP Froomatic RIP, but when I really had to print a photo, I restarted with Leopard! With PrintFab I get excellent prints! I tried as an USB-Printer for printer-diagnostic and as a Network-printer, both was fine. I just needed some Demo-Prints to purchase, even if it's expensive, buta new DinA3+ Printer is much more expensive

I'm using PrintFab almost a year now and I had no problem purchasing it. Results are very good on my two printers (Epson Pro 3800 and HP B9180) - both fineart and prepress prints look very good. In my opinion, the workflow may not be 100% intuitive, but once you have found where the relevant settings are, it's quite simple to use. Technical support was excellent - the manufacturer responds to queries quickly, all updates were free so far. Good to hear that now it also supports SnowLeopard.

This is a much needed print profiler utility that, unfortunately, does not work very well. Printers listed on the website as supported are not listed as menu choices where necessary. It is hard to navigate. The process for profiling and colour management should follow the workflow, but it does not. I suspect the underlying code and framework is decent, but the UI and visible process is lacking. Hopefully this will improve. As one other poster noticed, for a demo, it's impossible to actually buy this product!
