RAR Expander overview
RAR Expander extracts the files contained in RAR archives. It supports both single and multi-part archives, and has support for password-protected archives as well. It uses the official unRAR library internally so it is fully compatible with archives produced by WinRAR.
RAR Expander also features AppleScript support, and includes a few useful example scripts for expanding multiple archives at once.

How is it that this free software which hasn't been updated in over two years can easily open files that make Yosemite's Archive Utility AND Stuffit Expander 16 choke and fail? Seriously? I mean, I'm awfully glad it works so well, but really - WTH?

It is not a bad un-rar utility but it couldn't unpack one rar file I have.
unRARx had no problems with the same file.
It seems when a .rar is corrupted RAR Expander fails and unRARx does the job nice.
