Strobe Tuner overview

Strobe Tuner is a 12-note chromatic scale strobe tuner application that utilizes sound input devices such as built-in microphone, line in, and iSight. You can use Strobe Tuner to tune your guitar, bass, and other musical instruments.

Strobe tuners are extremely accurate compare to regular tuners with a needle or LEDs. The slightest difference between the actual pitch and the ideal pitch accumulates over time and appears as a movement on the strobe tuning meter.

  • Tuning: 12-note chromatic scale.
  • Temperaments: Equal, Kellner, Kirnberger III, Meantone, Pythagorean, Vallotti, Werckmeister III, Young II, etc.
  • Meter: strobe, cent, and hertz.
  • Range: A0 (27.5Hz) - C8 (4186.0Hz).
  • Accuracy: ±1 cent wit the cent readout. ±0.1 cent @ 440Hz with the strobe tuning meter.
  • Calibration: 349.0 - 499.9Hz (0.1Hz steps).
  • Transpose: ±11 semitones
  • Resizable main window on Mac OS X 10.4 or later

Open the Strobe Tuner application, choose an audio input device from the audio input device popup button, and adjust the input volume slider for the best result to tune your musical instrument.

This is a great strobe tuner for an amazing price. I can't afford to get it today, but I like it so much that I can't wait till payday to show this guy how much I appreciate his hard work. The interface is slick and the accuracy is spot on for setting the intonation on my guitars. I don't have a clue what the advanced options mean, but I can learn later - for now - A440 is all I need to get my gear set up. I really like his ProLevel meter too - I plan to get that one next - it is a great meter that I wish were built in to my DAP!!! Good job, Bobby

for electric guitars, you need to connect it to your Mac via the audio input port on Mac, or use a guitar amp and the internal microphone on Mac. it is not practical to try to tune an electric guitar with the internal microphone as an electric guitar does not generate loud enough sound that Mac can actually hear.

This program did not work on my MacBook Pro 2.33GHz using its internal microphone. I attempted to tune my electric guitar without the amp.

I would really like to try this out, but I can't tune my guitar even once without it shutting down and forcing me to restart it to continue the trial. Why would I buy this if I can't properly evaluate it?
