Schick overview

Schick allows you to transfer files over Rendezvous network. I wanted a simple and fast way to exchange small files, like Word-Documents, Pictures, URLs, etc.

iChat and similar tools need much configuration and registering - I wanted a technique that would "just work". I used to use OS X' FileSharing and the DropBox, but I don't get notified, and I have to mount the other user's Home DropBox by hand. Additionally the number of logged in users on OS X Client is limited.

Features:
  • Rendezvous-enabled
  • No configuration necessary
  • Automatically fetches username and user image from your Mac Preferences / Address Book
  • Lets you transfer files to Macs in your local network
  • Lets you browse and get files from Macs in your local network
  • large file (>2 GB) support
  • IPv6 enabled

What’s new in version 5.0

Version 5.0:
  • Fixed UUID-Creation-Bug (could cause duplicate entries in browser)
  • Improved compatibility
  • Improved user interface
  • Many minor issues fixed

A pretty small app, works as described. Perhaps the UI may be a little bit refined.

After opening the app I get this message "Problem: Resolving your host's addresses took veeery long. Is the DNS set up properly and reachable?" and it slow downs as hell. My computer use my router as a DNS server. Any advice for solving this? Thanks in advance.

I'm currently working on transferring files over network boundaries (not using bonjour), would that be also a cool feature for you?
