Audio Companion overview

Audio Companion is a sound recorder allowing you to record music via the built in sound input or any sound input device connected to your computer (USB devices such as Griffin iMic).

It will either act as a normal audio recorder or as a recorder that automatically split each song into separate files. The files may be saved as ordinary AIFF files (ready for burning an Audio CD) or saved as MP3 files or any file format that QuickTime can create. To use Audio Companion to record audio coming from other applications, please check out the free Soundflower utility.

Comment for Allan vs. Predictor. (Originally posted as a reply. However, since Allan vs. Predictor's info was so inaccurate, I thought this should be posted up front.) -------------------------------- A couple of corrections. Just did a search on MacUpdate for WireTap. WireTap 1.0 (the free version), is still available, here. Pure Mac has it, too. WireTap does not need Daisy to record. I know. I still have WireTap 1.0 and I don't use Daisy. WireTap *Pro* is not free. If you use WireTap 1.0 to record audio, just make sure you do not adjust the volume when recording because the "quack" sound will also be recorded, along with the music. In other words, WireTap 1.0 records all sound. You can't direct it to just one specific app. If you need something more robust than WireTap 1.0, I'd recommend Audio Hijack and/or Audio Hijack Pro. I prefer them over WireTap Pro. Hope this info helps.

I agree. Audio In is great and it can record in 24 bit, but it is not stable at all. Pref file always breaks and it crashes when you close it. On the plus side, I've never seen it crash while recording. Overall Audio Hijack Pro is best.
