SuperDuper! overview
SuperDuper! is an advanced, yet easy to use disk copying program. It can, of course, make a straight copy, or "clone" - useful when you want to move all your data from one machine to another, or do a simple backup. In moments, you can completely duplicate your boot drive to another drive, partition, or image file.
Clones for safety. To ensure you can safely roll back a system after the unexpected occurs. With a few clicks, you can easily "checkpoint" your system, preserving your computer's critical applications and files while you run on a working, bootable copy. If anything goes wrong, just reboot to the original. When you do, your current Documents, Music, Pictures - even iSync data - are available! You can get back to work immediately.
Clones for industry! SuperDuper has enough features to satisfy the advanced user, too. Its simple-but-powerful Copy Script feature allows complete control of exactly what files get copied, ignored, even aliased ("soft linked" for the Unix inclined) from one drive to another.

Enhancements
- Improved “Clone File” Support. Non-boot APFS Data volumes are replicated on macOS Big Sur and later when using “Erase, then copy”; this ensures the data will fit by since “clone files” are copied as clones.
- Better bootability. Backups boot much more reliably.
- Improved “What’s going to happen?”. We’ve made the user interface is more explicit about, well, what’s going to happen when using replication. There were also some cases where certain combinations of options left out some sections. Who noticed? We noticed!
- New “WTFIH” diagnostic. It can be confusing, so we write what we are working on whenever the log is opened (Cmd+L or Window > Show Log), or the user stops the copy.
- Log file readability. The log file font is now fixed-width to improve legibility.
- Brighter Progress. Under macOS 10.15 and later, the progress bar during copying has a filter applied that should make it more visible.
- Diagnostics usability. Our diagnostics are generated more quickly, and with a progress bar.
- Additional error notification. We now let the user know if the volume name has disallowed characters, and what to do in some unusual situations where things won’t mount.
Bug Fixes
- Additional guardrails. We’ve added more checks to help protect users from copying to the incorrect volume.
- TimeMachine snapshots. Fixed an issue where created snapshots were not always unmounted
- Licensing. Fixed a rare issue in licensing that could cause (very) intermittent crashes on launch.
- Typos fixed. Not every bug fix is a work of staggering genius.
- Some intermittent crashers no longer crash. No one likes those, to our surprise, so we fixed them.
- Countless bug fixes. Various, sundry, small. Some, you noticed. Some, we noticed. Some, no one noticed.

I have been using SuperDuper for over a decade now. There is no better clone app out there! I have used CCC (CarbonCopyCloner) and SuperDuper is superior! It has a great GUI, and is Super Stable and is a great insurance policy for your data when you do upgrades and bootable back-ups. Being able to create bootable back-ups gives you piece of mind that if you upgrade the OS, you can always go back to your previous OS. Finally the customer support is bar-none… I upgraded to 3,8, and experienced a minor issue and emailed their support email, and received real time suggestions and solutions… It ended up I just had to reboot my laptop, and then wait patiently for SuperDuper to do its thing….. and success… I was able to upgrade and maintain a ‘safety’ copy …just in case. I purchased this software 10 years ago , and I’m still receiving FREE upgrades and customer support…. It’s the best 29$ I have spent on my Mac! I HIGHLY Recommend this application for all users. You make a clone on an external SSD, and if your hardware fails or is compromised you take your ‘clone’ to any Mac and pick up where you left off, and then when you replace your hardware you merely copy your clone to the new device and you are back in business … right where you left off. Have no doubt this application delivers on all fronts, and the free tech support pays for itself with your first email!

The Dev is now offering v3.10.0 BETA on their Blog page. It is at the end of a long blog article about overcoming the bootability problem. Because it's beta, I won't drop the quite long Release Notes. The new features and fixes are extensive, including restored bootability! I'm currently testing it. . . . Meanwhile, v3.9.1 is out.

I have to add to my previous comment the fact that both, CCC 7 and SD are not capable of making bootable drives at the moment. However, making a working bootable disk is very limited these days due to apple's security measures. My review is about the fact that, compared to CCC 7, Superduper is very buggy. Most of the times it gives me problems: errors, freezing app etc. It also is very limited compared to CCC 7.
Developer of Super Duper still advertises and sells this app capable of making bootable disks (and it once was very capable of doing this) but the app is not capable of doing this anymore, probably won't in the future either. Without this function the app is extremely limited and, in my opinion, not worth any money...

App doesn't work since OSX update to 15.2.
Dev. is blaming Apple for it but Carbon Copy Cloner is working just fine.
Otherwise the app behaves buggy, lot of stability problems, freezing app, etc.
Developers, do not ask money for apps that do not work while blaming Apple for it. When you sell something it is your responsibility to make it work!
I do not recommend this app for now.

The main reason I didn't dump Apple and switch to Linux years ago was because Carbon Copy Cloner Versions 5 (and previous which I have used for 20 years) gave me the safety and security of knowing I had a bootable, full-system bare-metal restore clone at the ready in case of catastrophic drive failure. I recently "upgraded" to CCC 7 and it offers nothing over and above Time Machine. Correct me if I'm in error, but at this time, there is no software in the Linux Cosmos which can offer a full-system clone with restore capabilities?
