A very useful bit of freeware, but it only shows a machine's local IP. IP Broadcaster is also freeware and it shows both local and public IP addresses. Furthermore, its developer has maintained an entire suite of networking utilities for many years, demonstrating a committment to both shareware and freeware apps: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15325/IP%20Broadcaster

Does the job! Simple IP display up on the menu bar with some cool features. Works in Mavericks.

IP in menubar is almost perfect. I love the option of the smaller font and the way that it updates immediately when using VPN. As I am using it primarily with VPN. It would be nice to retain my original IP address as a reference next to the new VPN current IP. Also another feature that I would like to see is the country of origin of the VPN IP that I have been allocated. Would that be possible? Thanks again for a very useful tool.

Why is IP in Menu Bar 4.1 so big (12.9MB) and an app that appears to do the same thing (IPMenulet 1.0) so small (172KB)? What does this app do that IPMenulet 1.0 doesn't do? And why the huge difference in size of the two apps?

Wow. Nearly a meg for a one-trick pony, whereas MenuMeters does this and quite a number of other functions at less than half the size. That's REALCr...REALBasic for you.
