Indigo overview

Indigo is an intelligent home automation server for Mac OS X that integrates an assortment of hardware modules to provide complex automation and control of your home in one easy to use environment. Home automation is more than just another way to directly control your environment. You can save money, conserve water, help secure your home and reduce electrical usage by automating your home with Indigo's unlimited scheduling and control logic.

Indigo provides its own internal Web server (no cloud reliance here!) that gives you remote access to control your house from anywhere via Web browser. Also available is Indigo Touch, our iOS application, for native iPhone and iPad remote control. Indigo is the complete solution for your home automation needs with unparalleled ease of use.

Indigo provides you with the tools to create, manage, automate, and control your home:

  • Incorporate motion detectors to turn on lights or other devices
  • Automatically send emails based on events, like leaving your garage door open or when motion is detected after dark
  • Automatically turn on landscape or holiday lighting at sunset and off at sunrise or some other preset time or duration
  • Create complex conditions using an easy and intuitive rule builder - no need to water the yard if it's raining outside
  • Create different lighting scenes, for example "Party," "Movie," "Sleeping," "Away," for perfect multi-room lighting at the touch of a button
  • Control your whole-house audio via iTunes or your home theater system - pause the movie if your doorbell rings
  • Save money and energy by automating your thermostat usage - change set points based on occupation
  • Incredible flexibility for thousands of other uses -- use your imagination!

What’s new in version 2022.1.2

New General Features and Fixes:
  • Modified Email+ plugin to be more compatible with some SMTP servers by removing redundant EHLO commands and stopping the inclusion of empty CC/BCC fields
New Z-Wave Devices and Fixes:
  • Fixed Trigger scene name mapping for Zooz Dimmer Switch (ZEN77).
  • Fixed support for Zooz Dimmer Switch (ZEN72).
  • Fixed Z-Wave bug that caused configuration parameters to sometimes fail to set.
  • Fixed Z-Wave bug that would sometimes log errors when processing module awake commands.
  • Fixed Z-Wave device submission bug that prevented browser from opening.
Scripting, Developer and API Changes:
  • Plugin API version number has been incremented to v3.1.
  • Added optional Devices.xml node attribute allowUserCreation (defaults to true) that can be set to false to prevent the device from showing in the new Device dialog UI model popup menu. This is useful for plugins that dynamically create devices (but aren't using the DeviceFactory technique) that need to prevent the user from being able to manually create them.

Oh forgot another crucial issue: Uses the outdated, unsupported, sun-setted Python 2.7. (the death of Python 2.7 was know about for *years*, but they ignored it and continue to.) Please take your head out of the sand and join the 21st century!

Its not 1999 anymore. This program really hasn't been updated to current times since v2. It will not run as a daemon. You have to run it from a logged in userland account. makes for a secure headless system impossible. The web interface does not support TLS, so it is all clear text. They REFUSE to add it and push you to use their closed source un-audited reflector service. (If they can't incorporate TLS into their product I have SERIOUS doubts that their reflector service is configured correctly. So ZERO trust) Removing Applescript was a dumb and unneeded move. Its overpriced with the Raspberry pi/Linux offerings. It works well, for all it's short-commings. But if you want something secure this is NOT it! I can NOT recommend this way behind the times program. Its just more of the whole ****-show of IoT crap out there. Indigo; the 'S' is for security.

Indigo is simply the best home automation software you can get. Not only does it support several protocols (I use Z-Wave) but you can also enhance it with Python in every way you wish. GUI is 'simple' but great and support for new devices is good.
