DESCRIPTION

MacUpdate Desktop is an application that helps keep all of the software on your Macintosh up-to-date with its latest release. (Apple's Software Update only does Apple-branded software). It monitors and highlights outdated applications on your Mac, giving you the option to download and update each to the latest release.

It also provides you with a clean interface to the MacUpdate website. You can view the latest new releases posted to the MacUpdate site from within the application. You can even search the site and download files from within.

MacUpdate Desktop runs just fine under Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Visit our main MacUpdate Desktop web page for more info: http://www.macupdate.com/desktop/

PAUL SONDERVAN  Wow, I thought that I was the only one having troubles with this product.

Since 2 - 4 weeks the program doesn't function anymore. I've even deleted everything and added all fresh. The result was that it worked fine for that moment, but the next day nothing was updated.

Even the programs that give an update the day before where now saying that there was no update.

Is there an alternative available for this software?  (Version 4.2.4)

SWAMIJIM  Sorry to say I agree with the comments about MacUpdate Desktop having gone to sleep, or died, or merely gone AWOL. It isn't doing anything. And even when you add something via the website it doesn't show up on Desktop. Try to install something from Desktop to the Watch List and the program just spins its wheel. Fix it or I'll go back to Version Tracker, which has its own problems.  (Version 4.2.4)

LENBANKS1964  Piece of Crap!!!! Doesn't work, won't load the watch list with installed files. It seems the only way to get a program on the watch list is to do it on the Web site. Isn't the point of it being a local software to not have to do that? Of the few programs that are on my watch list (only because they were purchased from the Web site) nothing happens with them. Doesn't notify me of the update of a program I KNOW has an update. The Web site sent me an email, but the program doesn't do a thing. I emailed the company asking for help or a refund and have gotten no response. It seems to me that MU is not at all about the updating and all about being a store for their deals. Again, CRAP! Get VersionTracker Pro or AppFresh instead.  (Version 4.2.4)

ACEYTECH  It's really sad that the app that's *supposed* to keep our systems up to date, hasn't been updated since 2006. [Developer claim: runs *fine* on 10.5.] uh, not!

It runs like crap, terminates unexpectedly, and invalidates itself during the trial period, making it unusable. Sure would love to see an update to this app.  (Version 4.2.4)
