THEALXNDR I have been testing Ecoute since it came out. It's a lovely app and very well designed too. There's on only two issues that keep me from buying it. When listening to Web Radios the audio skips from time to time & Ecoute doesn't show the Title & Artist of the song being played. If there's a way to correct these issues ?

ORION MK. V Continues to work with iTunes 9.x installed. My only request would be a proper shuffle option at the top of whatever method you're listing -- playlist, rating, artist, genre, etc. Aside from that, it's fast, small and unobtrusive. (Version 1.3.2)

VINCAMP I find the covers size, in album list, are really too small when seen in a high resolution screen. When I search for an album it's easier for me to look for a cover, rather than read the album names and, with this size, recognize the album from the cover is really almost impossible. NMEGE I don't like the way Ecoute handles menus and lists, which i find as heavy and time-consuming as Front Row's. I'd rather use VOX, another standalone application, but one which is Free. Vox does not recognize Itunes playlists but in addition to its equalizer, it has sound effect options : time, pitch and chorus, reverb and distorsion, echo and compression, flanger and phaserÂ… and a Last FM interface. Supports Drag and drop almost any kind of music file(s) or folders. PS I'm not related to the Vox people, just not convinced by Ecoute's functionalities considering its price. (Version 1.2.6)

CHAOTICPIXEL My Ecoute 1.2.6 plays fine with my iTunes 9. Not saying this commenter is lying, but just pointing out that it might be a rare occurrence. I give this app 5 stars because of its value to a PPC user; it saves my resources for my work apps. Plus, I love the little miniplayer; Cleaningout by Tekikou is the perfect theme. HENDO Yes of course, why would developers want to be paid for their hard work and hours of devoted time? The selfishness is horrendous! (Version 1.2.6)

SOULSLAVE vlc does the same thing, play itunes files with lil resources. this just has a better UI. i really like Ecoute, but its for that reason, the UI. (Version 1.2.6)
| Sep 20 2009 |
HENDO This isn't remotely close to VLC. This is a complete, and compact replacement for iTunes. The UI is fantastic, it's feature rich without being bloated and it works well. It's not like he's charging $50, it's 10 bucks. More than fair if you ask me. (Version 1.2.6)
| Sep 20 2009 |
SOULSLAVE personally i think it should be donationware. u say developers should get paid for the hours they spent developing an app like this, and i agree. but u really think developing this app is worth more than $30,000?! lol it has 3,756 downloads, lets say half paid for it; THAT IS ALMOST $20K! i truly appreciate the app, but i do think that it should be free for its just a light media player (Version 1.2.6)

CHAS_M Come back when you've written your own app half as useful as this and we'll see if you feel the same way. :) (Version 1.2.6)

SOULSLAVE haha fine, but dont make it sound like he's starving (Version 1.2.6)
| Sep 20 2009 |
HENDO So why are you blaming him for creating a successful app? Are you saying you wouldn't take $20K because your product "isn't worth that much" Obviously if he makes that much money he did something right. (Version 1.2.6)

IINDIGO As a long-time Mac user (since 1996) that has written a little bit of software himself, I will have to agree that within the OS X software ecosystem, there are far too many small, single-function applications that are being charged for, especially considering how very similar equivalents on other platforms are either free or donationware. (Version 1.2.6)
| Oct 9 2009 |
SOULSLAVE someone got it! thank u (Version 1.2.6)
| Oct 11 2009 |
HENDO *sighs* I guess you guys just don't get it. Why is a developer who puts in hours of work coding thousands of lines of code drawing up beautiful graphics for custom controls designing a beautiful interface for a highly functional app obligated to just give it to you for free? Software design is a legitimate business, get over it. Sure some software developers will release awesome apps for free but DO NOT blame others for charging small amounts for their hard work. Maybe if this app was a broken featureless piece of crap you could complain but it is a well thought out and well designed functional app. Get over yourselves you penny pinching fools. (Version 1.2.6)

MATTHEW GREEN for those of you updating to snow leopard, please make sure you re-enable the dock icon otherwise you get a constantly spawning/crashing application that requires a hard reset. if you have this problem, delete your ecoute preference in your ~/library/Preferences folder and the ecoute folder in the ~/library/application support folder and do not try and hide the dock icon (Version 1.2.5)

BLABLABLA@DODGIT.COM It's a beauty, that's for sure, but it needs more memory & CPU as my iTunes 9/Snow. Ok, I have to say, to test this I did remove the Helper-App from the Bundle because I didn't wanted a running process after my test which I had to kill with Activity-Mon. But that is not the reason, or is it? I had the rainbow-cursor for few seconds before it was starting to play a song. It jumped while "loading" a sound to over 100% CPU-Usage... That could be because it searched for it's Helper-App? (Version 1.2.5)

BLABLABLA@DODGIT.COM sorry something was wrong with my computer (I think he got to hot because another application was stuck or something like that). iTunes had also the rainbow cursor and crashed twice, so my "report" about that is right to be ignored. Sorry again, I feel bad and I will now stop talking here on MU. Thanks. (Version 1.2.5)

it seems that ecoute has a sync problem with iTunes 9 Some elements turns as unknown when you try to play them. (Version 1.2.5)
