MoveCM is a contextual menu item for moving, copying, aliasing and archiving (zip compressing) files and folders quickly into common folders. i.e. without the need to drag and drop them, use aliases, etc. It is a generalization of the Finder's "Move to Trash" contextual menu item, you can apply it to any folder you like.
Use the System Preference pane to specify destination folders. The contextual menu will then consist of menu items that correspond to these destinations.
Control click on one or more files and/or folders in the Finder, select a destination from the menu, and the files and/or folders will be moved (copied, archived) to that destination. You have the option, specified in the preference pane, to have the destination folder opened for you after the operation completes. You also have the option of having the menu items in the contextual menu named after the destination folder, or by its pathname.
MoveCM is part of the Limit Point Software Utilities Bundle : http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities.html. Purchase a Utilities password to activate all the utilities, including MoveCM. Updates are always free, new products always included!
The program now stores aliases to folders, rather than absolute pathnames, so that if they are moved or renamed they can be found.
The folder list can now be rearranged by dragging multiple items at once, as opposed to only one at a time.
Version 1.0.7:
Added option to add the menu items as a submenu of the Finder's contextual menu. Use the preference pane to turn this feature on and off.
Version 1.0.6:
The option to open the destination folder after the selected operation has been replaced by the option to reveal the resultant item in the Finder.
Extension matching is no longer case sensitive.
When adding extensions for "Put In It's Place" the contextual menu is updated immediately (no need to close preferences.)
Version 1.0.5:
Added support for localization.
Added French localization.
Version 1.0.4:
Added a new feature called "Put In Its Place" which moves a file into a specified folder based on its extension. Use the preferences window to associate extensions with folders. The "Put In Its Place" menu item will appear in the contextual menu as long as at least one item in the Finder selection is a file with an extension.
SMTIPS Finderpop still does this better than anything else, no menu, no "common" folder, sinply select, click, choose folder all in one fluid motion and click...your choice of move copy or alias appears on the screen. None compare to Finderpop's ease of use and simple elegance. And it's FREE. (Version 1.0.5)
