DESCRIPTION
Transmission is a fast, easy, and free multi-platform BitTorrent client.
Transmission sets initial preferences so things "Just Work", while advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocking, and the web interface can be configured with just a few clicks. Macworld put it this way: "It's fast, it's extremely lightweight, and — even though it's available for a variety of platforms — it behaves just as you'd expect a Mac program to."
Transmission supports full encryption, file selection, a web-based interface, groups, peer exchange, automatic port forwarding, webseeds, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more.
Its code is freely available online and is licensed under either the GNU Public License v2 or the MIT License. The development team welcomes anyone who is interested in contributing code, documentation, translations, or other help.

SIPHYN87 Don't listen to all the haters, uTorrent has a ways to go before I would think about switching. Transmission is still my client of choice. (Version 1.41b2)

APFHEX The best Mac torrent client keeps getting better. I used to be big fan of Azureus and uTorrent because of their advanced features missing from many others. But Transmission's UI is just too good to pass up. It's the only one I've seen get it "right" - the columned layouts of the others are so bulky! Also, at this stage Transmission does have all the advanced features I care about, so that's not an issue anymore. (Version 1.42)

MITCH_DE TM has an good dev team and works very fast for further optimisations WITHOUT making the tool overloaded with detail settings most people wont understand. Also ytorrent is an closed source project with an much different way to communicate with their users. Its good to have more such small tools like TM or yT but my NR 1 stays TM. - fast fixes and very fast implementation of newest bittorrent standards (Version 1.41b2)

SUPERTHEMAN This program is fantastic. One thing I have always wanted was the ability to pick out individual files from a torrent package to download, and this program does it! XTorrent is the only other app I know that does this, and it costs too much and cripples your download after a certain amount of time (one hour?) unless you pay his exorbitant fee. Bottom line, this app is awesome, full-featured, very well supported and has an elegant interface that nicely conforms to Apple's Human Interface guidelines. Thanks to the developer! (Version 1.34)

CASTLE ROSE >One thing I have always wanted was the ability to pick out individual files from >a torrent package to download, and this program does it. Yeah well, Vuze (Azureus) has been able to do it for years and it's always been an awesome free program. (Version 1.40b1)

SURFSPIRIT Finally a Transmission version that makes my torrents as fast as utorrent! Now torrents start almost instantaneous and speed goes to the top of my connection limit, "Move Data File To..." is made in less than a second as always should be! 1.50 is a Must! Congratulations! I trashed uTorrent and start to use Transmission again! Hope not to change anymore! (Version 1.50)

SPRINGHEELMAC BEST VERSION YET!!! I, like many others, was having the same slow download speeds since 1.34. No matter what I did or tried, I would get 1-2% of the speed of 1.34. Once switching back, it worked fine. I'm extremely happy to say that has finally been correctly addressed in 1.50b3. It works fantastic. (Version 1.50b3)
