SUF  Just a note, this product does not and doesn't seem likely to be supported on Snow Leopard. May I suggest Glims as a direct replacement with broader features and no affiliate links. :)

IAMSE7EN  THE HYPOCRISY OF DAVE WATANABE [this developer]:

Watanabe likes to say this when asked about updating Inquisitor: "Any decisions about the product are Yahoo!'s to make. It stopped being my product the day it was sold."

The day it was sold?

Let's see, this is what you wrote on your blog, the day it was sold:

"I look forward to assisting Yahoo! in refining and extending the Inquisitor user experience beyond where it is today. I truly believe that Inquisitor and its users can only benefit, both from Yahoo’s resources and attention, and from the product integration possibilities that would have been impossible to pursue on my own.

It’s important to note that while I will continue to be the lead developer behind Inquisitor for Safari, I will not be joining Yahoo! as an employee. I have every desire and intention to remain an independent developer for the Mac, meaning that Inquisitor,Xtorrent, Acquisition, and NewsFire will all continue to be equal priorities in my life."

What?! Assist Yahoo! in refining and extending the Inquisitor user experience? Users will benefit? You're the still lead developer? Inquisitor still be an equal priority along with your other products?

HYPOCRITE.

TWISTED  Inquisitor improved my way of searching on the Internet! I really love it and it ease of use and config. Too bad that is not working well with Safari 4.0.3. Just hope the developer will do something soon!

LIBCRYPT  The latest version of Safari (4.0.3 here) pops up its own search suggestions on top of Inquisitor's. Anyone know how to turn off Safari's suggestions?

PEDRO FARDILHA  Hi All.

Inquisitor was sold to Yahoo, probably that's why the original dev no longer supports or even answer emails.

If you go to Inquisitor web site and click to read the terms of service (EULA) this is the link yo get:

TWISTED  i wrote the developer for some news, he answered quite drily that "it's common knowledge that it was sold to Yahoo!".

At the end of the story I'm starting to curse Yahoo and theirs absurde acquisitions... I find Inquisitor really useful, too bad it is not open source.

PATRIZIAF  The search function (Safari 3.2.3) works only with Yahoo... not with Google. With Google you receive only the suggestions (lens).

THUS.SPAKE.Z  While Inquisitor appears to have been installed in my Safari 4, its icon does appear in Safari's toolbar and Inquisitor's configuration panel is launched when clicking on the icon, its search function doesn't seem to work. I've also got Glims installed but don't know if there's a conflict between it and Inquisitor.

unfortunately, emailed queries to the developer go unanswered. Support seems unavailable. For that reason, the developer will not be getting any financial support from me if any kind of financial support is requested.

YICHEN Z  the developer doesn't need any financial need from you and you should stop treating free software developer as your free technical support.

THUS.SPAKE.Z  Listen,lichen Z, are you really stupid or just pretending to be?. if the developer doesn't want to provide technical support or even answer emailed queries about his software, whether free or not, why doesn't he just keep his software to himself. A software developer who doesn't want to provide support is IRRESPONSIBLE and not worthy of respect. So, to Hell with him, then. OK?

If you cannot understand that, then perhaps you need a brain transplant.

YICHEN Z  You are surely one of those people get used to downloading free pirated software online and complaining like a sob without paying a dime.
