ShapeOnYou overview

ShapeOnYou is a little application that can display and animate different vectorial 3D shapes. It is useful to illustrate documents and is designed to easily drag'n drop the results in other applications (like Keynote, OmniGraffle) where you would like to use 3D shapes. It is even better if these application support LinkBack: supporting LinkBack means that you can update the image by modifying it in ShapeOnYou, and the modification will take place in the document of the other application.

ShapeOnYou features:

  • full vectorial graphics to make images smoothly resizable
  • the ability to build parametrized animations that can be exported to QuickTime movies
  • an elegant and intuitive interface, with an inspector in the iWork style
  • smart 3D rendering with detection of hidden edges, shadows, shading
  • a large set of basic and complex shapes (cube, cylinder, torus, Möbius ring, blob...)
  • the ability to customize existing shapes with some distortions (thinning, bending...)
  • the ability to create your own extruded shapes
  • numerous export formats : PDF, EPS, SVG, VRML, X3D, TIFF, PNG, JPEG
  • Linkback support

I love this Program!!!! I'm a Mathematics teacher and I use it all of the time when I am assembling test papers. Thank you for making this available! It would be even better if I could do trapezoidal prisms, and if the perspective could be standardised to isometric. The hidden line feature is the best, and the main reason I favour this software.

This is a great native Mac OS X software, because: - It has an intuitive interface - Is absolutely stable - Offers a nice variety of formats - You can nicely edit all your creations However some suggestions: - Offer more export/import formats - Make palettes more intuitive (e.g. in one single expandable window) Thank you very much for this great and hard work

This is one cool li'l app. It doesn't do a whole lot, but what it does, it does well. It's easy and fun to play with.

Very nice and with LinkBack integration built-in this becomes a handy addition to the Keynote and OmniGraffle toolset (especially as it overcomes one of the current limitations of OmniGraffle - its relatively poor 3D shape stencil). One area where it could do with improvement is the addition of shadows/reflections to add more depth to e.g. the sphere shape which is otherwise too flat looking when filled.

Nifty little thing. Works as promised and is certainly handy if you need an uber quick 3D shape.
